History
Savage, Maryland has a rich history that is deeply intertwined with its origins as a mill town in the 18th century. It was founded in the late 18th century by Scotsman John Savage, who established a textile mill along the banks of the Little Patuxent River. The mill, known as Savage Mill, became the cornerstone of the community’s economy and growth. The surrounding area was primarily agricultural, with farms supplying goods to the mill and its workers. Today, many of the original buildings and structures have been preserved, giving the area a quaint and charming atmosphere.

Savage, Maryland, is a small, historic community located in Howard County, Maryland, about 20 miles southwest of Baltimore and about 18 miles northeast of Washington, D.C.
