Community Highlight: Catonsville

History

Catonsville has a rich history dating back to the 18th century. It was named after Richard Caton, a prominent businessman in the area. The community features several well-preserved historic homes and buildings today. The Frederick Road Historic District is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It features a collection of historic buildings and shops along Frederick Road, capturing the town’s historical character.

Location

Catonsville is located in the Southwestern region of Baltimore County, Maryland, about 10 miles west of downtown Baltimore, and less than 40 miles from Washington, DC. It has a mix of residential and commercial areas with local businesses, shops, and restaurants contributing to the local economy.

Catonsville has convenient access to major transportation routes, including Interstate 695 and Interstate 95, making it relatively easy to commute to Baltimore and other parts of the region. Public transportation options include bus services connecting Catonsville to areas nearby.
